In the most simplest of terms, counselling can be defined as a method of approaching psychological difficulties in adjustment that aims to help the client work out their own problems. The counsellor listens sympathetically, attempting to identify with the client, tries to clarify current problems, and sometimes gives advice (Oxford Reference).
Once you have made contact, please allow up to 48 hours for a reply. The initial telephone consultation will then be booked in. I will send you a consultation form to complete online prior to the telephone call. This consultation will be 45 mins long and is completely free of charge allowing you to decide if you wish to go ahead with regular counselling sessions.
The amount of counselling sessions that you may need will be both discussed and determined during your first counselling session; this will vary from person to person and will depend on your goals. Additional sessions can be booked further on down the line only if you feel is necessary.
Payments for counselling sessions are made via BACS transfer. An invoice for the counselling session will be sent to you with a "payable by" date. Payments must be made 24 hours prior to the scheduled counselling session.
Journal Prompts offer topics that spark introspection and deep reflection. They may be in the form of questions or first lines that serve as a guide. Of course anyone can pick up a pen and put it to paper but Journal Prompts are designed to help you think in new and different ways. Journal Prompts are tailored to your goals and are received on a weekly basis.
Currently face-to-face counselling isn't a option however once it does become available, this will be advertised on the home page.
You may start regular counselling sessions but realise that it may not actually be helping. In this case, it is important to let me know as soon as possible. Counselling takes a willingness from you as I use a person centred approach. I am here to help you explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence.
If you simply wish to stop regular counselling sessions, this can be done with immediate effect.
For some people 60 minutes is simply not long enough. Longer sessions can be booked in advance at your request but will be subject to availability.
